Greenmount Homestead, as a museum, is rather unusual. It's vast collection comes from three generations of the Cook family, prominent pioneers of the Pioneer Valley, whose contribution has helped shape the cultural, heritage and economic future of the region.

Mackay Libraries has branches at Mackay City, Mt Pleasant (Gordon White Library) Walkerston and a Mobile Library that services the area from Midge Point in the north, Chelona in the south and Eton in the west. Mackay Libraries offers a wide range of services, resources and activities for people of all ages and interests.
The Mackay Historical Society was formed after a meeting of a group of Mackay District citizens with an interest in preserving the unique history of the region.

The museum holds local artefacts as well as displays on the history of Mackay from the first inhabitants to the present day. We will also have a research area as well as souvenirs and publications for sale on Mackay History.
